America and London
About
A free display at the City of London Heritage Gallery marking 250 years since the Declaration of Independence through archives linking America and London.
This display commemorates the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and celebrates links between America and London. Highlights include two 1775 letters sent to the City of London — one from the General Committee of Association of New York and one from the Congress in Philadelphia — a silk bookmark commemorating Abraham Lincoln's assassination, and the Roll of Fame open at the entry for Dwight Eisenhower's Honorary Freedom of the City. The City Heritage Gallery is located within Guildhall Art Gallery, and visitors are advised to book a free general admission ticket.
