City at the Crossroads - a David Oluwale Walking Tour
About
A guided two-hour walking tour of Leeds exploring David Oluwale's story, his legacy and Yinka Shonibare's Hibiscus Rising artwork.
Organised by the David Oluwale Memorial Association, this guided walking tour follows the crossroads of David Oluwale's life through Leeds, visiting places connected to his journey, his tragic death and his enduring legacy. The route takes in difficult histories and the city's cultural meeting points, including Hibiscus Rising, Yinka Shonibare's landmark artwork celebrating Leeds as a place where cultures meet. The tour lasts around two hours and is recommended for ages 12 and over due to themes of racism, homelessness and violence. Participants are invited to continue the following day at a related creative writing workshop, Writing at the Crossroads.
