Discover Your Railway
About
A weekend open day at the Great Central Railway with heritage train rides, behind-the-scenes shed tours, footplate visits and a Remembrance Sunday service.
Celebrating the railway's Best Day Out in Leicestershire Award, this weekend invites visitors to explore Britain's only double-track main line heritage railway. Attractions include unlimited heritage train travel with steam and diesel locomotives, guided tours of the locomotive shed and Loughborough Central Station, footplate visits to a 9F, an HST driver simulator, and trackbed tours showing Reunification project progress. On Sunday 8 November a short Remembrance service takes place on Platform 2 at Loughborough Central at 10.45am, concluding with a two-minute silence at 11am.
