Collagraph Printing Workshop with Jo Abela
About
A three-hour hands-on workshop where printer Jo Abela teaches the collagraph printmaking technique, building textured plates and printing them.
This in-person workshop introduces collagraph printing, a technique in which a printing plate is built up with textures and shapes on card or board, using materials such as paper, fabric, string and leaves, and etched with intaglio. Once sealed and inked, plates are run through a press or hand-printed to produce richly textured prints. The session runs for three hours and is pitched as accessible for beginners while offering scope for more experienced artists to experiment with composition, texture and colour. Tutor Jo Abela is a printmaker and ceramicist who produces collagraph prints combining varied textures and materials.
