About

A Torquay Museum Society lecture by Dr Chris Davies on women artists' contributions to art history.

Dr Chris Davies delivers a Torquay Museum Society lecture examining how women artists have struggled for recognition throughout art history, partly due to misogyny. The talk challenges this viewpoint, demonstrating that an eclectic range of female artists, from 18th-century Angelica Kauffman to contemporary artists including Barbara Walker, have made major contributions to the continuing development of art. The lecture is free for Torquay Museum Society Members, with the general public welcome to attend.
