Members’ Evenings

Astronomy talks, practical observing, planetarium and astrophotography sessions alternate with social evenings for observatory members.

The Friday members’ programme combines astronomy and informal social gatherings in the main lecture theatre and around the observatory. October includes informal observing and a board-games evening. November features a virtual planetarium and astrophotography session with the NLO Imaging Forum, a talk reflecting on twenty years at the observatory, and guided viewing of the Moon, Pleiades and planets. December includes the members’ Christmas party; a second board-games evening is scheduled in January. Other Friday topics are to be announced. Gatherings run 19:30–22:00 and require society membership.
