Light Sphere

A free two-metre spinning LED sphere installation by kinetic artist Tom Wilkinson, shown at Blackpool North Pier as part of the Lightpool Festival Trail.

Light Sphere is a kinetic light installation: a two-metre diameter circle of high-performance LEDs that rotates at varying speeds, from a slow radar-like crawl to a fast whirl, creating an immersive play of light and motion. Part of the Lightpool Festival Trail, it is open to the public free of charge each evening between 6pm and 9pm from 21 to 31 October 2026. The work is created by Tom Wilkinson, a kinetic artist with a background in automata, illusion and special effects.
