Shadows and Salt
About
A free pop-up shadow puppetry theatre where families create and film their own light and shadow stories as part of the Lightpool Festival.
The Old Electric, a community-led creative organisation, has created a pop-up shadow puppetry theatre where visitors become the puppeteers and storytellers. Beautiful shadow puppets, backgrounds, soundscapes and textures can be animated using simple technology, with themes exploring the seaside. Participants play and create before capturing their own piece of Lightpool light art on film, with creatives on hand to support hands-on shadow-making techniques including shapes and movement made with the body. It runs daily from 6pm to 9pm as part of the Lightpool Festival Trail and is described as fun for all the family.
