Amphibian Ecology and Survey Techniques
About
A Kent Wildlife Trust study day on amphibian identification, ecology and survey methods, ending with a torchlight pond survey at Vinters Valley Nature Reserve.
This study day begins at Tyland Barn with an introduction to amphibian ecology and the identification of Britain's native species, including their favoured habitats and the factors limiting their presence, linked to habitat management discussion. Participants visit ponds in daylight to assess suitability and plan a survey, learn about survey methods, legislation protecting amphibians and how to plan a survey. After dark the group travels to Vinters Valley Nature Reserve to survey a pond and practise identification. Suitable for beginners and improvers; adults 18 and over only.
