Ancient and Veteran Trees
About
A Kent Wildlife Trust study day learning to recognise, record and conserve ancient and veteran trees, with a classroom session and field visit to Mote Park.
This study day explores the characteristics of ancient and veteran trees and their importance for biodiversity. The morning classroom session at Tyland Barn covers how this tree heritage came about, how to recognise veteran trees and their key features. After lunch, the group travels to Mote Park to examine individual trees, practise recording methods and discuss their management and conservation. Led by Neil Coombs, Kent Wildlife Trust Land Management Advisor, the day runs from 10am to 4pm and is suitable for beginners and improvers.
