Stabat Mater by Pergolesi in London

A one-night performance of Pergolesi's Stabat Mater by the Brandenburg Baroque Soloists with soprano and countertenor soloists at Kensington United Reformed Church.

The Brandenburg Baroque Soloists, a string quintet with chamber organ tuned to A=415, perform Pergolesi's Stabat Mater in full under the musical supervision of Bob Porter, with soprano Abigail Barker and countertenor Gleb Zakharov as soloists. The work is played on period instruments at the historical Neapolitan church pitch of 18th-century Naples, giving a warmer, darker colour. Additional baroque selections complete the roughly 60-minute evening, staged with subtle lighting designed for the church's intimate acoustics.
