Stabat Mater by Pergolesi
About
A Liverpool premiere of Pergolesi's Stabat Mater performed on period instruments by the Brandenburg Baroque Soloists with soprano and countertenor soloists.
Red Events presents a one-night Liverpool premiere of Pergolesi's Stabat Mater, performed by the Brandenburg Baroque Soloists — a string quintet with chamber organ tuned to the historical pitch of A=415 — under the musical supervision of Bob Porter. Soprano Abigail Barker and countertenor Gleb Zakharov appear as soloists. The complete Stabat Mater, lasting around 40 minutes, is performed in the authentic Neapolitan church pitch of 18th-century Naples, with additional baroque selections completing the evening. The staging is conceived for St George's Hall's acoustics, with a subtle lighting design shaping the space.
