Pendle Moorland & Woodland Mushroom Forage
About
A guided moorland mushroom forage around Pendle with gin tasting and a wild cook-up, hosted by Colin Unsworth of Forest Horizons.
This four-hour forage takes place on the moors around Pendle, searching for waxcaps and other meadow and field fungi, including species that have attracted media attention for research into mental health treatments. The day begins with a tasting of wild gins made from foraged goodies (a non-alcoholic version available), followed by a slow-paced walk over the moorland using foraging staffs. It finishes with a fry-up of edible species found on the day, plus advice on other species participants may have seen, and explores 'Embodied Foraging' — slowing down and tuning in all the senses. Participants should bring lunch, boots, waterproofs and warm clothes; knives and baskets are provided. Note: the actual meeting location differs from the one listed and is emailed two days before the event.
