Glossop Woods & Moorland Mushroom Forage - Waxcaps and Interesting Species!
About
A guided autumn mushroom forage through woodland and moorland near Glossop, learning fungi identification with wild gin and homemade treats.
Colin Unsworth of Forest Horizons leads a slow-paced foraging walk around Arnfield Fly Fishery, exploring mature woodland and open moorland habitats. Past visits have found porcini, chanterelles, amanitas and russulas in the woods, while the higher grassland is home to waxcaps and other notable species. The walk covers one to two miles, includes a mid-way lunch break and, if enough wild edibles are collected, finishes with a simple mushroom fry-up tasting. The session also introduces Embodied Foraging, a sensory approach to nature connection.
