Relaxed Morning: National Museum of Scotland
About
A calmer museum visit with quieter galleries, a quiet space and support from Visitor Experience staff.
The museum reduces or switches off sound from audiovisual displays and interactives where possible and makes a quiet space available in the Level 4 Learning Centre until 12:30. The relaxed programme itself runs 10:00–12:00, when sound is switched back on; visitors may then remain in the museum during regular opening hours. The Millennium clock still sounds at 11:00 and 12:00, and audiovisuals in the Science and Technology galleries cannot be changed. Visitor Experience staff can help, sensory backpacks are available to borrow, and the museum suggests using the Tower Entrance. This is a drop-in session during regular museum hours; the museum cannot promise reduced visitor numbers. Upcoming dates are 1 November and 6 December 2026. Free admission.
