Becoming Doctors: Stories of Identity, Inequality, and the Future of Care
About
A free exhibition of artwork by University of Southampton medical students exploring identity, illness and healthcare inequality.
Becoming Doctors displays creative work produced by medical students for the Medical Humanities module at the University of Southampton, including photographs, zines, poems, podcasts, drawings and animations. The pieces explore professional identity, illness, healthcare inequality and the students' hopes for the future, prompted by the question of who cares for the doctors. The exhibition is curated by Dr Luca Di Gregorio, Edward Dymond and Dr Joan Tumblety, and forms part of the British Science Festival 16–20 September 2026. Visitors should note that it explores themes of physical illness and mental health.
