About
Film scholars Dr Iain Robert Smith and Dr Samantha Iwowo and curator Nadia Denton discuss the superhero film as a global convention; Dr Sarah Jilani chairs.
The first talk in a three-part symposium considers how superhero figures and film conventions circulate across cultures and are reshaped by local histories. The discussion takes Wakaliga Uganda’s framing of the Buganda warrior Kibuuka Omumbaale as its starting point. Speakers are Dr Iain Robert Smith, Nadia Denton and Dr Samantha Iwowo; Dr Sarah Jilani chairs.
