About
Filmmaker Mati Diop, curator Dr Eva Namusoke and novelist Dr Jennifer Nansubuga Makumbi discuss ancestral spirits and restitution; Dr Nobunye Levin chairs.
The second symposium talk explores how ancestral spirits are received and reimagined in contemporary culture. Its discussion of heritage and restitution considers how cultural figures and objects displaced through colonialism change meaning when returned and encountered in the present. Dr Nobunye Levin chairs a panel with Mati Diop, Dr Eva Namusoke and Dr Jennifer Nansubuga Makumbi.
