About

An exhibition examines the Brontë children’s Glass Town Federation stories and the colonial ideas reflected in their reading and imagined worlds.

This 2026 exhibition explores the young Brontës’ fictional kingdoms, their exposure to colonial military and missionary writing, and links between those childhood stories and Yorkshire. The exhibition is co-curated by Professor Corinne Fowler, a University of Leicester scholar of colonialism and heritage.
