About
The BBC Philharmonic with guitarist Sean Shibe and conductor Naomi Woo performs a programme of funeral and memorial music from Purcell to Kurtág.
Sean Shibe and the BBC Philharmonic, conducted by Naomi Woo, explore the pageantry, rites and emotions of funeral music, ancient and modern. The programme spans Purcell's Funeral Music for Queen Mary, Bruckner's Aequales, George Benjamin's Fantasia 7 after Henry Purcell, exuberant works by Julia Wolfe and Alex Paxton, Cassandra Miller's Chanter and Kurtág's Grabstein für Stephan. The end time is yet to be confirmed.
