Volunteering @ Oilhouse Coppice
About
A free volunteer day coppicing woodland and clearing space around young oak saplings at Oilhouse Coppice with Severn Gorge Countryside Trust.
Volunteers join Severn Gorge Countryside Trust for a practical woodland conservation day at Oilhouse Coppice, carrying out coppicing and creating halos of open space around small oak saplings to give them more light and air. The terrain is mixed with slopes and uneven ground, and volunteers meet at Coalbrookdale Community Centre, with an optional minibus pick-up at 9.45am or the option to meet on site. Tools, training, gloves, hard hats and goggles are provided, along with tea, coffee and biscuits at the morning break; participants bring their own sturdy footwear, outdoor clothing and packed lunch. New volunteers must register with the trust before booking, and 16/17-year-olds need parental permission.
