Enamelled Jewellery with Sara Barker

A one-day enamelling course at Watershed Studio where participants learn to fuse powdered glass onto copper to create wearable jewellery pieces.

Tutor Sara Barker guides students through the process of enamelling, in which powdered glass is fused to metal in a high-temperature kiln to create a rich, glossy surface. Participants try both dry and wet application techniques on copper test pieces, experimenting with layering powders, pattern making and colour combinations. After testing the process, they make a final design finished with sterling silver hoops or hooks.
