Beginner Oil Painting: An Afternoon Session with Ed Heron

A two-hour beginner workshop with Ed Heron introducing oil painting materials, techniques and confidence-building exercises in a Derby studio.

This two-hour session introduces adults to the basics of oil painting, covering materials, brushes, surfaces, colour mixing and simple composition. It includes demonstrations, practical exercises and guided painting time, with the aim of understanding how oil paint behaves rather than producing a finished artwork. It is suitable for complete beginners and rusty returners, and basic materials are provided. The organiser also offers a four-week small-group course.
