International Piano Series: Cédric Tiberghien

French pianist Cédric Tiberghien performs a programme pairing Ravel and Debussy with Couperin and Rameau in the International Piano Series.

Cédric Tiberghien's recital explores how early 20th-century modernists Ravel and Debussy looked back to the French Baroque for inspiration. The programme alternates movements from Ravel's Le tombeau de Couperin with pieces from Couperin's 21ème ordre, and after the interval pairs Debussy's Images and Études with harpsichord pieces by Rameau. Julian Anderson's Etude no.4 'Misreading Rameau', which Tiberghien premiered in Australia in March 2026, adds a 21st-century perspective.
