The Great Waxcap Hunt: Tracking Down the UK's Most Colourful and Important Fungi - Walpole Park
About
A GoodGym Ealing citizen-science session in Walpole Park recording waxcap fungi for Plantlife's Waxcap Watch to help identify rare species-rich grassland.
GoodGym Ealing is teaming up with Ealing Greenwayers to take part in Plantlife's Waxcap Watch, a simple survey recording the colours of fungi that anyone can complete. Waxcaps indicate rare, species-rich grassland, so mapping where they thrive helps locate surviving fragments of ancient meadow, which support hundreds of wildflowers and store up to a third more carbon than species-poor grassland. Participants meet at The Rickyard in Walpole Park; the session runs from 13:00 to 14:30 and is open to anyone aged 18 or over.
