Sunset Woodland Discovery Walk
About
A guided autumn evening walk through Dumfries House woodland exploring flora, fungi and biofluorescent nocturnal wildlife with UV torches.
Galloway & Southern Ayrshire UNESCO Biosphere's Nature Recovery Officer Jack Barton leads this two-hour walk alongside Dumfries House's Scott Davidson. The group strolls the estate's woodland trails learning about trees, the 'wood-wide-web' and autumn fungi, then continues as darkness falls. Equipped with UV torches, participants discover biofluorescence and look for nocturnal woodland creatures. The walk uses well-maintained paths but may involve low branches and muddy patches; attendees should bring weatherproof clothing, good-tread footwear and a torch.
