About
A guided night walk with UV torches through Culag Woods, revealing biofluorescent fungi, lichens, mosses and insects in Scotland's temperate rainforest.
The Loch Assynt Centre leads a night safari through the temperate rainforest at Culag Woods, exploring biofluorescence — the process by which living organisms absorb ultraviolet light and re-emit it as visible colour. Participants use UV torches to uncover glowing fungi, lichens, mosses, insects and rocks while learning about the unique environment of Scotland's north-west Highlands. The guided walk lasts 90 minutes and is suitable for all ages, with free parking on site.
