Femmephobes and Femmephiles, an evening with Sophie Lewis
About
Writer Sophie Lewis gives a talk and discussion on femmes and feminism, drawing on her books Enemy Feminisms and Femmephilia.
Sophie Lewis joins Five Leaves Bookshop for a talk and discussion on femmes and feminism, focusing on her two most recent books. Enemy Feminisms examines feminisms that have opposed liberation, from imperial and KKK feminists to today's anti-abortion and TERF feminists, while Femmephilia argues for a politicised femme-ness that is anti-work, abolitionist and utopian. Lewis suggests femmephilia can help imagine a radical future where neoliberal empowerment has failed. Her books will be available on the night at a discount for attendees.
