Kinusaiga Workshop
About
A half-day workshop learning Kinusaiga, the Japanese textile art of pressing fabric into a board to create stained-glass-style wall art.
This half-day workshop introduces Kinusaiga, a Japanese textile art in which fabric is pressed into a board to create collage wall art resembling stained glass. Tutor Bonita Keay guides participants through designing (or following one of her designs), transferring the design to the board, cutting fabrics, using a Kinusaiga tool to add fabrics, and finishing with ribbon edging. All materials and equipment are provided and no experience is necessary; participants must be aged 14+, with under-18s accompanied by a paying adult. Everyone leaves with a finished piece of wall art and the skills to continue the craft at home.
