Jazz Performance
About
A 9-week Monday evening jazz course at Attenborough Arts Centre where instrumentalists learn repertoire and improvisation by playing as a group.
Tutored by Leicester saxophonist and pianist Richard Everitt, this practical 9-week course runs on Mondays from 11 January to 8 March 2027, 7pm–8:30pm. Participants play together as a jazz band, learning tunes from the jazz repertoire and developing improvisation skills in a supportive environment, with relevant theory and performance conventions covered along the way. It is aimed at people who play an instrument with reasonable proficiency and can read music or chord symbols (well-developed by-ear players are also welcome); vocalists cannot be included and piano places may be limited this term. Participants must be aged 16+, with under-18s accompanied by a paying adult.
