Victorian Train Weekend – Steam Hauled
About
A Victorian-era steam-hauled weekend brings restored vintage coaches behind LMS Jinty 16440 for its centenary, with costumed railway volunteers and activities for younger visitors.
Travel in restored vintage carriages hauled by LMS Jinty 16440, celebrating the locomotive’s 100th birthday. Midland Railway Trust volunteers in period costume answer questions, and children can try a vintage-themed I-Spy competition. Steam-hauled services also run on the Golden Valley Light Railway at Swanwick Junction. Visitors can explore the Victorian Railwayman’s Church, West Shed Experience, Road Transport Building and Stationary Power House; other buildings are open subject to volunteer availability. Visitors arriving in Victorian costume are offered half-price on-the-day tickets. The published Timetable A lists Butterley departures at 11:00, 12:15, 14:00 and 15:15, returning to Butterley at 12:08, 13:48, 15:08 and 16:18.
