About
A two-hour visit to the Grade II* listed Victorian Claymills Pumping Station, exploring its steam engines, boiler house, workshops and Dynamo House.
Derbyshire Historic Buildings Trust is organising a two-hour visit to Claymills Victorian Pumping Station, a Grade II* listed 1880s sewage pumping station preserved by volunteers. The route passes through the Visitor Centre, engine houses with four Victorian beam engines including the 1885 Gimson engines, the Boiler House with five Lancashire boilers, the workshop and blacksmith's shop, and the Dynamo House with 1889 steam-driven generating equipment. The visit ends at Stoker's Rest, where refreshments can be purchased; parts of the route involve stairs.
