About

An evening lecture at Corinium Museum exploring the human history of wild Britain, based on the book Wilderlands.

This evening lecture examines how humans have shaped Britain's wild landscapes over the 12,000 years since becoming a permanent presence, from burning the wildwood and farming the land to introducing animals now considered native. It challenges the myth of a lost untouched paradise, presenting a wild that is closer and more human than commonly thought, and considers what this means for the future. The talk is linked to the book Wilderlands, which was longlisted for the Wainwright Prize for Conservation Writing 2026.
