Introduction to Botanical Painting: Grapes
About
A beginner one-day watercolour course at West Dean's London campus learning to paint a realistic botanical study of grapes with tutor Liz Shippam.
This one-day beginner course introduces botanical painting in watercolour, with the subject being a small bunch of grapes. Students make an accurate line drawing, learn colour mixing including how light and shadow affect colour, and build up paint layers gradually to achieve a three-dimensional effect with a full range of tones. Final details such as markings and blemishes are added to complete a finished painting. Teaching runs 10.30am–4.30pm with registration from 10am; most materials, including paint, paper and brushes, are supplied, and lunch is not included.
