Folklore and Fable Autumn Trail

A family trail through the gardens explores folklore about trees and plants, with a journey stick and map to guide visitors between discoveries.

The October half-term trail asks which trees were believed to protect against witchcraft or open a gateway to another world. Visitors receive a journey stick and map at the start and follow the grounds to find plants linked to local folklore. It is aimed at curious adults and children, with the source recommending it for ages over five. The published run is 17 October–1 November 2026, 10:30–16:00; a £2 trail sheet is an add-on to admission.
