About

An immersive installation by Rae-Yen Song connects family stories, ecology and Daoist cosmology through a glowing pond, shifting light and sound, and crafted materials.

Rae-Yen Song’s installation reflects on a lost ancestor remembered through family stories and myths. A glowing pond contains living organic matter and microscopic life; cameras translate movement in the water into changing light and sound. Textiles, glass, ceramics, willow, hair and cat fur form offerings through which the artist explores ancestry, ecology and the seen and unseen. On view in Gallery 1.
