Swan Song
About
A student production of Chekhov's Swan Song, in which an ageing actor confronts his final years in an empty theatre after his farewell performance.
Part of the University of Oxford Student Season for Michaelmas Term 2026, this staging of Anton Chekhov's Swan Song follows Vasilyich Svetlovidov, an actor left behind after closing following his farewell performance. Drunk and despairing, he is kept company only by cue-caller Nikita Ivanich, who listens to his laments and is even drawn into an impromptu Shakespeare performance. The two men confront old age together, realising this last stage of their lives is their swan song. Performances run nightly at 9:30pm from Tuesday 24 to Saturday 28 November.
