Book Launch + Talk: The Future is Not Lost by Matt Bluemink
About
Writer and philosopher Matt Bluemink presents his new book The Future is Not Lost, in conversation moderated by Alessandro Sbordoni, followed by a Q&A.
Matt Bluemink gives a presentation exploring the key ideas of his new book The Future is Not Lost: On Music, Technology, and the Creation of New Worlds (Becoming Press, 2026), moderated by theorist Alessandro Sbordoni. The talk engages with Mark Fisher's concept of hauntology and argues, drawing on music by artists such as SOPHIE, Arca and Iglooghost, that the future still speaks to us through music. Bluemink draws on Bernard Stiegler's philosophy of technics, Gilbert Simondon's theory of individuation, and cyberpunk and solarpunk imaginaries to propose a new theoretical framework. The presentation and discussion are followed by a Q&A session.
