The Dark Room

John Robertson's interactive comedy show The Dark Room fuses improv, crowdwork and gaming in a live-action choose-your-own-adventure videogame.

Comedian John Robertson hosts The Dark Room, an interactive comedy show now in its 14th year, in which the audience is trapped in an inescapable dungeon by a sadistic videogame boss. Crowd members pick surreal options from the screen to try to escape, winning money if they succeed and 'dying' if they fail. The show blends stand-up, improv and audience chanting, and has headlined festivals including Glastonbury and Download.
