Get into trouble, fall in love – Chris Mead: Workshop

Improv teacher Chris Mead leads a workshop exploring being fully in response to your scene partner, for improvisers confident in 2-3 minute scenes.

This improv workshop, part of the Birmingham Improv Festival 2026, is led by Chris Mead, a senior teacher at Hoopla and founder of The Pretend Company. Taking as its starting point the advice to 'get into trouble and fall in love', the session argues that improvisation boils down to being in response to your scene partner — holding space to be inspired, changed and affected in turn. Attendees need to be confident performing a 2-3 minute improv scene.
