About

The Leeds Gayageum Group gives a free hour-long concert of traditional and new music on Korea's twelve-string zither at stage@leeds.

Part of the Leeds Korean Day Festival, this hour-long concert showcases the gayageum, Korea's best-known zither, with twelve silk strings over a paulownia body whose notes are bent and shaped by the left hand. The Leeds Gayageum Group performs traditional Korean repertoire alongside newer writing for the instrument. The event is delivered by Dr Hyunah Cho, Genevieve Dean, Charlotte Leung and Afled Wong.
