Portrait Painting in Oils

Spend a day learning to paint portraits in oils from provided reference photographs, using observational drawing and the Zorn palette to build a tonal portrait and develop it in colour.

Jo Shepherd guides an all-abilities workshop using provided reference photos. Participants sketch through observational drawing, build an underpainting and develop a portrait in colour with the limited Zorn palette for mixing flesh tones. All materials are provided; participants may bring paints and brushes and should wear old clothes or an apron.
