Collage Weekend with Rachel Cohen
About
A two-day collage course at Phoenix Art Space exploring techniques inspired by artists from Dada to Matisse, led by artist Rachel Cohen.
Artist Rachel Cohen leads a two-day weekend course exploring different approaches to collage, taking inspiration from 20th and 21st century artists. On Saturday participants work with found images and words in the spirit of Dada and Surrealist artists such as Hannah Höch and John Stezaker, make collages about contemporary homes in response to a Richard Hamilton work, and create abstract pieces from coloured and textured paper inspired by Kurt Schwitters. On Sunday the group uses painted paper made the previous day to produce a large collage inspired by Henri Matisse's cut-outs. Suitable for all levels, with all materials provided and a maximum of eight students.
