FBF: Maria Alyokhina & Eric J. Breitenbach: Political Girl

Pussy Riot's Maria Alyokhina and Eric J. Breitenbach present her memoir Political Girl with readings, live music and conversation at the Falmouth Book Festival.

Maria Alyokhina, imprisoned after Pussy Riot's 2012 protest in Moscow's Cathedral of Christ the Saviour and later escaping Russia in 2022, discusses her new book Political Girl: Life and Fate in Russia, a memoir and manifesto of resistance. The evening combines readings from the book with a live score performed by fellow Pussy Riot member Eric J. Breitenbach, who plays drums, samples and electronics. The two reflect on their work in Pussy Riot, the role of performance and direct action, and making art in response to political repression, war and state violence. The event forms part of the Falmouth Book Festival.
