About

The Hallé performs Adès, Berg's Violin Concerto with Christian Tetzlaff, and Elgar's First Symphony, conducted by Thomas Adès.

The Hallé's programme explores loss and consolation, opening with Thomas Adès's ... but all shall be well, a meditation in remembrance of his grandfather. Christian Tetzlaff is the soloist in Berg's Violin Concerto, written in memory of Manon Gropius. The concert closes with Elgar's Symphony No.1, premiered by the Hallé in 1908 and full of tenderness and elation.
