Stravinsky’s The Firebird
About
The Hallé performs Adès, Gabriella Smith's world-premiere violin concerto and Stravinsky's Firebird Suite under Thomas Adès at The Bridgewater Hall.
Thomas Adès conducts his first concert as the Hallé's new Principal Guest Conductor, opening with These Premises Are Alarmed, written 30 years ago for the opening of The Bridgewater Hall. Pekka Kuusisto is the soloist in the world premiere of Gabriella Smith's violin concerto How To Be A Bird, a Hallé co-commission inspired by nature and the climate crisis. The programme closes with Adès's Asyla and Stravinsky's 1919 Firebird Suite, with a pre-concert talk at 6.30pm featuring Adès and Hallé Chief Executive David Butcher.
