Memory Forest With Barkingside Art Club – Ilford
About
A family art workshop with Barkingside Art Club creating lanterns, foam clay animals and a shared Memory Forest at Redbridge Central Library.
Barkingside Art Club invites participants to help create the Memory Forest in Ilford, a project inspired by Shakespeare's Hamlet and the story of Hamnet and drawing on Eliyah's experiences of grief and remembrance. Activities include making butterfly and moth lanterns, painting animals with foam clay, exploring the Memory Forest and Memory Box, and sharing a memory. Visitors can bring a photo of a family member or special memory, which the club will print onto acetate and add to the Memory Box. Booking is recommended to guarantee a space, and the event forms part of the Festival of the Dead programme.
