The Romance and the Reality of 1940: Britain’s ‘Finest Hour’ – T415

Phil Craig gives an afternoon talk at the Guildford Institute sharing human stories of love, loss, heroism and sacrifice from Britain in 1940.

This afternoon lecture draws on powerful human stories Phil Craig has collected from the heroes of 1940, mixing stirring accounts of love, loss, heroism and sacrifice with authentic ‘naughty’ jokes and songs from the period. The talk also raises a series of provocative questions about the most celebrated year in British history. It runs from 3:00 pm to 4:15 pm and is offered on a Pay What You Can basis, with £7 as the standard price.
