About
A Cornwall Film Festival screening of Paweł Pawlikowski's black-and-white drama Fatherland, following Thomas Mann's 1949 road trip across postwar Germany.
Cornwall Film Festival presents Fatherland, Paweł Pawlikowski's 82-minute black-and-white drama in German with English subtitles. In 1949, Nobel laureate Thomas Mann returns to Germany after sixteen years of exile, travelling with his daughter Erika from US-dominated Frankfurt to Soviet-controlled Weimar. Starring Hanns Zischler and Sandra Hüller and shot by cinematographer Łukasz Żal, the film premiered in Competition at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, where Pawlikowski won Best Director. The screening starts at the advertised time with minimal trailers.
