Writing the Winter
About
A one-day creative writing workshop for adults exploring winter and festive themes, led by poet Cathi Rae.
This one-day practical workshop uses winter, the changing weather and festivals from Bonfire Night to Diwali, Christmas and the winter solstice as inspiration for new writing. Participants work through three writing prompts supported by visual prompts and excerpts from two contemporary writers, and weather permitting take a short walk along New Walk to gather ideas. By the end of the day everyone will have written at least two pieces, which may include poetry, short stories or memoirs, and will be encouraged to share work and give feedback. Suitable for beginners and experienced writers aged 18+, the session runs 10.30am–4.30pm with a lunch break (bring a packed lunch as the café is closed for refurbishment).
